Introduction

Welcome to this guide, crafted to assist you in setting up a custom domain for your Minecraft server using HyperPanel. The steps outlined below will take you from domain acquisition to a fully personalized gaming experience.

Step 1: Acquire a Domain

The first step is to purchase a domain. We recommend buying one from Namecheap. While .com, .net, and .io are popular choices, feel free to opt for a TLD that suits you.

Step 2: Create a Cloudflare Account

Once you have a domain, go to Cloudflare and sign up for a free account. Click 'Add Site' and choose the 'Free' plan.

Step 3: Set Up an A Record

In Cloudflare's DNS settings, you'll need to add an 'A Record.' To use a subdomain like play.yourserver.com, specify that name. To use the root domain, simply enter the '@' symbol. Then input your server's dedicated IP address and click 'Save.'

  • Note: Please do not check the cloudflare proxy and set it to "DNS ONLY".

Step 4: Update Nameservers

Follow Cloudflare's instructions to switch your domain's nameservers. Navigate back to your Namecheap dashboard, click 'Manage' next to your domain, and then locate the 'NAMESERVERS' option. Select 'Custom DNS' and enter the nameservers provided by Cloudflare. This may take up to 48 hours to propagate.

Step 5: Completion and Testing

After DNS propagation is complete, you can now connect to your Minecraft server using your custom domain. You've successfully completed the setup!
